Technology
At Accuvision LASIK, we believe exceptional vision starts with exceptional technology. That’s why we use the WaveLight® Refractive Suite, one of the world’s most advanced laser platforms for LASIK and PRK.
Combining the WaveLight® FS200 Femtosecond Laser and the WaveLight® EX500 Excimer Laser, this fully integrated system allows Dr. Bill Hammonds to perform bladeless, highly customized laser vision correction with exceptional precision.
Every patient begins with a comprehensive consultation and advanced diagnostic testing. Using detailed measurements of your eyes, including your prescription, corneal thickness, corneal shape, and overall eye health, we create a personalized treatment plan designed specifically for your unique vision needs.
Whether you’re considering LASIK or PRK, our goal is to combine advanced technology with experienced surgical care to help you achieve the best possible visual outcome.

The WaveLight® Refractive Suite
• WaveLight® FS200 Femtosecond Laser
• WaveLight® EX500 Excimer Laser
Unlike standalone laser platforms, these systems were designed to function as one integrated refractive surgery suite. From flap creation to vision correction, treatment planning and laser settings work together to create a smooth, efficient, and highly customized patient experience.
WaveLight® FS200 Femtosecond Laser
The first step of LASIK is creating a thin corneal flap. At Accuvision LASIK, Dr. Bill Hammonds performs this step using the WaveLight® FS200 Femtosecond Laser, eliminating the need for a handheld blade.
The FS200 delivers 200,000 laser pulses every second, creating a remarkably precise corneal flap in approximately 6 seconds.
Unlike earlier technologies, the FS200 allows Dr. Hammonds to customize multiple aspects of the flap, including:
- Flap thickness
- Flap diameter
- Hinge location
- Hinge size
- Side-cut angle
This level of customization allows every procedure to be tailored to the individual patient while preserving healthy corneal tissue whenever possible.
The FS200 also creates exceptionally smooth flap surfaces and is designed to minimize the formation of the opaque bubble layer, allowing the flap to be lifted efficiently before the vision correction portion of the procedure begins.
Benefits of the WaveLight® FS200
- Bladeless LASIK
- Customized flap creation
- Computer-controlled precision
- Fast treatment in approximately 6 seconds
- Smooth flap surfaces
- Predictable results
- Designed for exceptional patient comfort
WaveLight® EX500 Excimer Laser
After the flap is gently lifted, the WaveLight® EX500 Excimer Laser reshapes the underlying corneal tissue to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism.
Using the detailed measurements collected during your consultation, the EX500 removes microscopic amounts of tissue with remarkable precision.
Operating at 500 Hz, the laser provides rapid treatment while its advanced eye-tracking system continuously monitors eye movement at more than 1,000 measurements per second. Even if your eye naturally moves during treatment, the laser automatically adjusts to maintain accurate positioning.
For many patients, the laser treatment itself takes less than 10 seconds per eye.
Benefits of the EX500
- Fast laser treatment
- Advanced eye tracking
- Wavefront-Optimized technology
- Personalized treatment planning
- Precise corneal reshaping
- Customized correction for your prescription
Intelligent Iris Registration & Eye Tracking
One of the most remarkable features of the WaveLight® Refractive Suite is its intelligent eye-tracking system.
Before your procedure begins, the laser captures the unique features of your iris, much like a fingerprint to ensure your customized treatment is perfectly aligned with your eye. This process, known as iris registration, helps account for subtle differences in eye position that naturally occur when you move from sitting upright during testing to lying down for surgery.
During treatment, the laser’s advanced eye tracker monitors your eye’s position 1,000 times every second. If your eye makes tiny, natural movements, the laser automatically adjusts in real time to stay precisely on target. If your eye moves outside the treatment area, the laser immediately pauses and resumes only when proper alignment is restored.
This sophisticated technology provides an added level of precision, helping ensure your treatment is delivered exactly where it’s intended.
Why patients appreciate this technology:
- Tracks eye movement in real time
- Automatically compensates for natural movement
- Uses iris registration to personalize treatment alignment
- Instantly pauses if your eye moves too far
- Enhances precision throughout the procedure
Wavefront-Optimized Technology
The WaveLight® EX500 uses Wavefront-Optimized technology, which is designed to preserve the natural shape of the cornea while correcting refractive errors.
By maintaining the cornea’s natural aspheric shape, this technology helps optimize visual quality and may reduce the likelihood of visual disturbances such as glare and halos compared with earlier laser systems.
